Lori J. Ketola has over 20 years of legal experience, both in private practice and as in-house counsel. She has specific expertise in the areas of regulatory compliance, health information privacy, HIPAA, the development and implementation of training and compliance programs, investigations, commercial transactions and contract management processes. Lori enjoys using her wealth of experience to collaborate with business executives and develop practical solutions to complex legal and business issues.
In addition to her role with the GCL, Lori serves as Chief Compliance Officer & Chief Privacy Officer for Health Information and Health Sciences at the University of Minnesota. Since 2013, she has been responsible for developing and maintaining an institution-wide framework to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the University’s health information in education, research, health care services and health plans. She is responsible for the development and implementation of compliance programs, training, investigations and risk management.
Previously, Lori was the lead attorney for Target Corporation’s health care division. In this role, she led a team of legal professionals to advise Target’s senior business leaders on all legal, compliance and risk management issues involving its retail pharmacies and clinics. Prior to that, Lori was an attorney with Briggs and Morgan, P.A., where she focused on commercial transactions and advising small businesses on a wide range of legal issues.
