Jon Eisenberg has over 35 years of experience both in private practice and as in-house counsel. Most recently, he was the Vice President and Chief Counsel for the $1.6 billion Neuromodulation division of Medtronic, Inc., the world’s leading medical device manufacturer.
In that role, Jon was principal legal advisor to the President and the ten functional area Vice Presidents of the business and served as a member of its senior leadership team. He also led the business unit’s 25-employee legal team, which included both business and patent lawyers. He was a member of the Business Development Committee that reviewed and approved all M&A and IP licensing activity for the business.
A significant portion of Jon's work involved FDA regulatory matters including product quality, safety and recalls as well as facility inspections. He also led efforts to establish compliance policies, procedures and training for areas such as the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and HIPAA.
Prior to joining the business unit, Jon managed U.S. and international litigation for Medtronic. Initially focused on product liability and employment matters, he later managed high-stakes patent infringement cases and licensing disputes.
Before joining Medtronic, Jon was a partner at Briggs & Morgan, where he handled litigation and trials involving franchisees, distributors, non-competes, employment discrimination, patent infringement, antitrust, trade practices and other commercial disputes.
Jon had previously managed national franchisee and other business litigation for The Pillsbury Company, Minneapolis MN. Before going in-house with Pillsbury, he had been a shareholder with Pepin, Dayton, Herman, Graham & Getts. After graduating from law school, he served as a Law Clerk to Associate Justice Lawrence R. Yetka of the Minnesota Supreme Court.
